What Does a Drone Roof Survey Involve?

Some parts of a property are simply difficult or unsafe to inspect. High roofs, chimney stacks, or awkward valley junctions, for example. That’s where drone roof surveys can make a huge difference.

At JRV Surveys & Valuations, we use drone technology to capture high-resolution images of areas that can’t be safely reached from ground level. This allows us to inspect roof coverings, chimneys, flashings, gutters and parapets in much greater detail than a standard visual inspection.

A drone survey is especially useful for large detached homes, tall properties, or where access via ladders is restricted. It eliminates the need for costly scaffolding or cherry pickers, providing a clear visual record of the roof’s condition quickly and safely.

The imagery we capture can reveal issues such as cracked or missing tiles, defective leadwork, vegetation growth, or blocked gutters, all of which could otherwise go unnoticed. These images are then provided alongside your survey report, providing you with clear photographic evidence of any concerns.

Our drone surveys are fully compliant with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and carried out by trained professionals. When combined with a RICS Level 3 Survey, this service gives you the most comprehensive overview possible of the property’s condition, top to bottom.
